Add Some *SPARKLE**

What girl wouldn't love this challenge! Actually, I think the card I made for this challenge from CCC Digi Creations would look great with a graduating guy too! Sassy Studio Designs is sponsoring this week's fun challenge, so come play!

This Graduate Sassy image was cropped and enlarged. (I use Word program on my computer.) After I colored her with Copics, I cut the image out, ran it through my Xryon so it would be sticky and adhered to the background.

For the background, I used a white cardstock base. The sentiment image  from MFT Stamps is repeatedly stamped 4 times and was a snap to line up!    Yea!
I stamped it in black embossing ink then used an oldie-but-goodie EP I had that is black with rainbow glitter. Believe me, in real life, this card has *SPARKLE!**    You can see a little bit of it showed up in the right hand corner of the card.

COPIC COLORS: SKIN: E04, 21, 51, 50, R11. LIPS: RV56, 34, 32. EYES: B32, 23. HAIR: E44, 43, 31. CLOTHES: W3, 1, 0 AND 100, C9, 7, 5.
Thanks for looking and I hope you have time to play in this fun challenge this week!

Sassy Sponsorship Challenge-St. Patrick's/Luck

(If you are looking for the monochromatic challenge post for Open-Minded Crafting, or DTBST #325 challenge; please scroll down one and two posts.)

Sassy Studio Designs is sponsoring another challenge this month and it is the St. Patrick's/Luck challenge by Open-Minded Crafting. There is a month to upload cards/projects with this theme, so come play with us!

My family does not really celebrate St. Patrick's Day, so I used the Luck side of the challenge with SSD image Surprise Proposal Sassy. I cropped it so she could be a large focus on my card. I also printed it out at 25% opacity so it would be a little lighter, as the bear actually has a ring tied onto his bow that I did not want to be a focal point. I used a " beary lucky" word sentiment from Create With TLC.

The image is colored with Copic markers. The background cardstock is the same blue color as her dress but is stamped in a fresh green color from Stampin' Up! ink and a Stampin' Up! background plaid image.
Copic colors: SKIN: E04, 21, 51, 50, R11. LIPS/RIBBON: RV56, 34, 32. DRESS/EYES: B23, 12, 37. HAIR: E49, 77, 43. BEAR: E53, 51, 33, 35. (37, 49 for his nose). BACKGROUND: YG23, 06, 03, 11, 00. I just kind of scribbled the colors on the background, keeping the dark close to the image, and the lightest around the words. I used the chisel end of the 11 and 00 markers to lay down more ink and blend colors slightly. Then I added in more dark where I wanted it to be.

Thanks for checking out my blog. I hope you found this post useful and will come play in some challenges with us!

Monochromatic Challenge

This challenge at Crafting By Designs is sponsored by Sassy Studio Designs.
The image I used is a SSD Friday Freebie image called Wednesday Sassy.   SSD has many fabulous images, check in the clickable link above! Also, every Friday SSD has a 24-hour freebie image in their Facebook group, a weekly blog challenge, as well as a free monthly progressive Facebook challenge! Come Play!

I used Copic markers in the BV family, mostly. I really like to have real skin tones on my people for a monochromatic challenge, so I used my artistic license a little bit here. I was also trying to find just the right sentiment for an everyday card that would not be too offensive...LOL! The sentiment is from Create with TLC and she has tons of great sentiments!

Thanks for checking out my blog, and here are my color choices: Skin: E04, 21, 51, 550, R11. Bear:  W5, 3, 1. Hair:100, W9, C7, BV01. Clothes: BV29, 25, 23, 20.

The background was quickly water colored with Dioxazine Violet and Payne's Gray. I did not use water color paper, so I watered down my colors and tried to quickly brush them on, adding the colors back and forth to get a look I wanted. I tried to keep it lighter by the sentiment. After this dried I pressed it flat under a few books for the night, then I adhered it to a dark purple cardstock that seemed to match pretty well. Good luck if you play!

{DTBST #318) It is the day of the Dawning of Aquarius!

Here's my ode to all the February birthday's out there! The Sassy Studio Designs blog challenge this week is "It's all the Same: make a monochromatic project!
I am loving the colors on this one!!! Of course I wanted to do it in aquas for Aquarius, and I went a little toward the green end of monochromatic to give the image some more pop! I haven't quite mastered coloring skin tones in non-traditional colors, so I also used my artistic license there too, and went with my go-to colors. LOL!   The image can be found in the zodiac section of the shop; just scroll down the images until you see it.

Copic colors: Skin: E04, 21, 51, 50, R11. Lips: BG49, 15, 32, W5. Hair: BG 49, 15, YG11, W5. Eyes: W5, 100, BG49, 32, YG03. Background: BG32, YG11.

The image is partially cut with a rectangular die, with the image being fussy cut in the areas outside the rectangle. To do this, just place the die onto the image and lightly draw with a pencil where you want it to cut. Then fussy cut areas outside the pencil line. Now the die can be placed into the image; just put the cut out areas on top of the metal edge so they don't get cut off.
The background panel is a 3-D embossing folder from We R Memory Keepers. I was still trying to keep the theme; birthday, astrological signs, gemstone theory going...

Hope you will join the fun and give it a go. You don't need to use a SSD image to play along, but we love it when you do. Enter by next Wednesday night for your chance to win 2 SSD images of your choice.

There is some extra incentive for using a SSD image,
you get to enter twice. So if you use one, make sure you
link to your blog post and the second link can just be to your blog
(it won't let you link to the same post twice). After your name, please put SSD, so we know why you are linking twice!

{DTBST #317} Birthday Cake Sassy Style!

Welcome to another Dare To Be Sassy Thursday! This week's challenge is to use any image with 3 papers, 2 buttons, 1 ribbon... Here's my take with one of my favorite Sassy images. Just go to the birthday section of the shop and scroll down until you see it!

The papers I used were from a coordinated paper pack; Colorbok-Homespun Collection. I wanted to paper-piece her dress, so I just shaded it with Copics (YR02, 01) and a gold metallic marker.
Two buttons, which were die cut from the same paper pack and MFT button dies. These were cut 3 x on yellow cardstock and 1 x on patterned paper. I was originally going to have yellow buttons, but I wanted to tie in more of the aqua color.
One ribbon; well, I am hoping between the gold embroidery floss and the ribbon on the image, this will count!
 ; )    It's all interpretive, right!?

Here's the Copic color list: Skin: E04, 11, 21, 00, R20. Hair: (I am liking this combo!) Y28, 26, 21, E50. Eyes: 100, W5, BG15, 13, G00. Boots, lips, ribbon: W5, R27, 21, RV34, 32. (I love this combo too!!) Cake: E53, 51, 50, R21, BG15, 13, G00.

Hope you will join the fun and give it a go. You don't need to use a SSD image to play along, but we love it when you do. Enter by next Wednesday night for your chance to win 2 SSD images of your choice.

(The image I used on my card is Praying Portrait and can be found in this section, just scroll down. Link up to the challenge on the Sassy Studio Blog!)

(it won't let you link to the same post twice). After your name, please put SSD, so we know why you are linking twice!

This one was a stretch out of my comfort zone, but I have always admired others cards with this theme. The paper pack I used was from Colorbok-Homespun with some Core'dination Paper from Tim Holtz that was embossed and sanded for the background. The card base is Baked Brown Sugar from Stampin' Up. The word "prayers" is from a Simon Says Die that was cut and layered 4 x on SU! Pool Party cardstock. One of the sets of leaves is also cut and layered from this, with the top layer run through an embossing folder, and then a darker teal inkpad swiped over the top. Pool Party ribbon is also used, along with wired gold ribbon, and ribbon roses in an ivory shade. Lace is cut and placed to frame my colored panel. Colored brown pearls from my stash were also added.

This image was also colored with Copic markers as follows: Background: BG72, 11, 10. Skin: E04, 21, 51, 50, R20. Lips: R56, RV34, 32. I forgot to write my hair colors...

Thanks for checking out the details on my blog, and I hope you enjoyed all the inspiration from the team! Now it's your turn to link up a creation!

{DTBST #315} Anything Goes!

What a great/easy challenge to get your mojo flowing in the new year! The challenge can be found on the blog: here!  The image I used can be found: here, just scroll down until you find Capricorn!

Hope you will join the fun and give it a go. You don't need to use a SSD image to play along, but we love it when you do. Enter by next Wednesday night for your chance to win 2 SSD images of your choice.
There is some extra incentive for using a SSD image,

(it won't let you link to the same post twice). After your name, please put SSD, so we know why you are linking twice!

Here's the recipe for my card: Copics! I did the background first because I wanted to drip alcohol onto it to move the color around, and this way my image would not get ruined because it would not be colored -and I could push out the red that bled into it with the colorless blender!
R59, 27, 17, 05 and 91% alcohol with dropper. Let dry and add more alcohol if desired!
Skin: E04, 51, 21, 50, R11. Hair: E49, 77, 84, 74. Eyes: E49, 84, Y21, W3, 100. Lips: R27, 22, 20, W05. Horns (I know, right!): E55, 42, 81, 84, Gold Wink of Stella glitter brush pen. Tail (again, right!?): R22, 20, 11, E42, and Clear and Gold Wink of Stella glitter brush pen.

The fishtail banner is cut from MFT's large stax and then cut in half so I could stretch it out under my colored panel. This piece is from a gold/foil paper pack. The background panel card base is actually ivory, but photographed lighter than in real life! There are a few random, red sequins glued on with a drop of red glitter glue you can see if you look closely...
