Merry Christmas 2014

The idea came to me in the middle of the night, and I couldn't let it go, even though it was
very close to Christmas-these cards were the ones calling out to me and had to get made!

The images are digital stamps, which are great because they can be resized and flipped; perfect for this project!
Children playing in the snow card images are from: Make it Crafty stamps: lg pine tree, playing children bundle.
Elves at the North Pole card images are from: Make it Crafty stamps: elf bundle, little Christmas tree, and Kenny K Christmas accessory pack.
I colored the images this time with watercolors on the regular paper I usually use with my Copic markers. These are fun boxes to make because they can fold flat for mailing! These were real popular earlier in the year and there are a lot of instructions out there, but the ones I used to fit into an A2-sized envelope are from kraftinkimmiestamps.blogspot.com-week-15.
 Here's a few more pics:

The most important thing to remember is to watch the overhang on the pieces, so it will still fit into the envelope. I fit to my envelope by always closing the box toward the right side, but as you can see below, it easily folds toward the left side also! (This way was way too wide to fit into the A2 envelope.)

Here's some photos of the elf card:

Thanks for looking, and I wish for you a joyous holiday season and a good 2015 ahead!

Crayola Challenge with Sweet Escape Digi

Well, I can't believe I did not have any crayons in the house!
Kit and Clowder on Facebook periodically has wax-crayon challenges for fun, and I've been wanting to try it. So, with this cutie-freebie digi from Kit and Clowder and Sweet Escape Digis, and a Saturday of free time, I knew this was the challenge for me.

For this "masterpiece" I used a little over 1/3 of the Crayola Crayons in my 24 pack and regular printer paper. I discovered it was best for me - on her clothes to use my darkest shadow color first (purple), then color with next lighter (blue), then next (lighter blue green). My last, well almost last, color (green) was for the highlights. It almost made it look yellowish in some areas.
I colored her boots and collar with grey and then tried to blend it a little with white.
I like the way that made it look, so I went over her clothes and hair with the white crayon also. Her hair is brown and then the two yellows in my pack; although the lighter yellow looked the same as the darker, so I tried to leave some blank areas. I did color over these white areas with the crayon though.
For her skin I started with brown, then the red-violet color for her cheeks and finally the peach. Lastly I touched up some of the shadow areas with the brown crayon again. I did not go over the skin with the white crayon though.
I did go around the image and ground it with light pink, then ground it further with the red-violet color. Then I colored the white crayon over it.

This was a fun technique. I was tempted to melt the colors with my heat gun to see what would happen.....Maybe I'll try that for the next time! Thanks for looking and maybe I've inspired you to bring out your inner child! Have fun!

Birthday Princess Lulu.

This is another card for Kraftin' Kimmie's Magical Krafty Crop-Challenge 4; Pretty in Pink. I'd also like to enter it into the Outlawz Monday Challenge.
The image and words is from a rubber set, Birthday Lulu, from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps.

This one was a fun one to color! I embossed the words on the card front. Copic colors: E11, 04, 21, 00, R20; RV09, 06, 04, 02, 00, 66; 100, C9, 7. Also used were an atyou Spica clear glitter pen on the shoes and crown. The crown also has Silver Sharpie paint pen. The flower embellishment is from my stash; I believe originally from a set I bought from The Angel Company. Here's a couple photos showing the sparkle a little better...
Thanks for looking!

I'm coming for you!

I don't usually do too much in the way of Halloween cards, but I loved this mad mummy digi download from Kenny K.  I paired it with the eerie scene background digital stamp from Make it Crafty.  I've been coloring on this for a while, trying to get the moon details and mummy wrap right, etc, when I finally decided to quit piddling with it and make a card...

The following Copics were used: Pumpkins: R05,YR68, , 16, 12, W3, 1. Fence: E49, 47, 44, w7, 5, 3. Moon: BV20, 23, C0,W00. Sky: BV20,C0, BV20, B34, 37. Ground: BG99, W7. Plants: G85, YG99, W3. Mummy: Y38, W7, 5, 3, B0000.
Thanks for looking! I am entering this into these challenges: Kenny K-Anything Goes with a twist of orange and black.  Kraftin' Kimmie's Magical Krafty Crop-Challenge 5=Halloween.

Festival Lilly digi image

This is a freebie image from All Dressed Up! for a color challenge on the Kit and Clowder FB page. The All Dressed Up! ETSY shop is here.   This is the first introduction I've had to this shop and I am really enjoying their images!
For this challenge we were to use our favorite colors, and although I can't say I've typically used them together before, I do like charcoal and blue-green colors. Here's my card colored with Copics:
I was inspired to add a little more bling since I've been seeing the gorgeous cards others have made. I am still unsure about it, but it is a start! (My glue was not quite dry yet on one of the daisies...)
This awesome ribbon from Stampin' Up!, called Raven, is so soft and easy to use. I made her headband to look the same. The little birthday wishes tag is from a large Sizzix die and tied on with some baker's twine from a package I received from Some Odd Girl.
The leaf die, used twice, is from Sizzix through SU!, and both these and the light gray panel at the top are stamped with MFT's wooden plank background stamp. The daisies were also cut from a My Favorite Things Die (Rolled Daisy). I actually cut the felt in half and made two daisies from it. The center bling is from my stash, and the felt is also from MFT. The butterfly dies are from Memory box, and I purchased them through Oozak! (Moonlight and Kaleidoscope).

Alyce, thanks for continuing to challenge us and exposing us to new stamp companies!
All Dressed up!- You haven't seen the last of me! :)
Thanks for looking and I hope you have a happy, crafting day!

Here's a sweet image from Aurora Wings called The Gift.  Kit and Clowder Facebook group is challenging us toward improvement! Yea! Here's my image colored with Copic markers and fussy cut onto a scrap of bubble-printed paper I had in my stash. The other cardstock colors are from Stampin Up!, as well as the sentiment. I used My Favorite Things - Blueprints Dienamics 15 for the layout. The sequins are the Spring Mix from Some Odd Girl.

Colors used were from Jenn "Dove's Color of the Day", which she posts on her Just4FunCrafts and DoveArt Studio blog.
Girl: YR20, YR02, RV21, R35, RV29, R59. Shadow colors: V22, V25.

No Lines Coloring! Peony.

This is my second go at coloring with the no-lines technique! I do enjoy it, but it is nerve wracking at the same time-right!? Have you tried it yet?
I picked this image from Aurora Wings because the peonies in my yard are blooming right now and they sure are pretty flowers.

I thought it may be easier to color one with lines and one without the lines at the same time. I think it helped!

The left is my no-lines version and the right is printed out regularly. The words are from Create with TLC, and the ribbon is from Stampin' Up!
Here's more close-up pics:

and the last one 'with' lines:
Thanks for the challenge, making me work outside my comfort zone, and thanks for looking!
Images colored with Copics;  RV 69, 66, 63, 10; E15, Y17, 15; G99, 94, 21, 20. Very light background with BV and RV colors.

Ribbons! Belle of the Ball.

This is the July Freebie image from The East Wind, and I am using her to enter into their challenge of using Ribbons! This is a perfect wedding image, so I paired it with some words in my stash that were from The Angel Company.

The ribbons were all from my stash. I wrapped a translucent bluish/purple ribbon around some roses ribbon; getting my idea from this Belle's hair. The ribbon across the bottom had a row of pearls already sewn onto it, and I tied a triple bow from some thin white ribbon to finish off the top right side. The ribbon in the tag is from SU!
The papers are from Stampin' Up!, Almost Amethyst and Very Vanilla.

And how about that awesome ribbon in her hair!! The image is colored with Copics.
Skin: E04, E11, E21, E00, R20, R32.  Hair: E29, E25, E23.   Dress: BV31, BV 0000.  Ribbons: B63, B66, B69; E53, E51.   Background: E51, E50.
Thanks for looking and thanks for the wonderful image Unky!

KKS Challenge 5-Two or more stamps!

Here's my entry for this Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge! I've been stamping like crazy the last few days to get some cards done for the challenges. Scroll around my blog to see the other cards I entered into their themes :)

This little cutie is from the Birthday Lulu stamp set which comes with three girly, party images and 5 sentiments, from KKS. She is colored with Copic markers and the layout is from MFT Blueprints 15. The graph paper in the background is really a pretty, deep/bright-pink color in real life, and the striped flag paper pieces have a little bit of a shimmer to them.
When I cut the pink graph paper out with the Blueprints die, I also cut out the smaller piece shape-like the one the image is stamped on, so now I have that smaller-shaped pattern piece I can use on another card! This also lets the white paper with the image on it nest flat into the graph-like background paper.
Thanks for looking, and I hope you enjoyed all the fun challenges from KKS!

KKS Challenge 4-All Things Shimmery!

Here's my entry for this Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge! I've been stamping like crazy the last few days to get some cards done for the challenges. Scroll around my blog to see the other cards I entered into their themes :)
This card is loaded with shimmer - Shimmery black pearl paper, shimmery white pearl paper, silver glitter enamel dots, and shimmering show girls! This gal in the photo frame below with short hair, has a shimmery background made with Heidi Swapp Silver shine mist and Tim Holtz's dark pink (that was misted on first so all areas were covered). Looking closely you can see a little bit of pink in there! The silver shine spray was a little blotchy when spraying, but in the end it turned out well.
I masked her, and then quickly pulled off the mask after spraying. It did soak through some areas faster than I anticipated... On one of the two that were masked for cards, I ended up having to recolor and cut her face out; gluing this over the finished card since the first originally ended up with some silver puddles on it.
The images are colored with Copics and loose, white/clear glitter was glued onto their outfits and feathers.
The film strip rectangles and photo frame dies are from Stampin' Up!

No more waiting, here's the card in its entirety:

This set is called Show Stoppers and can be found at KKS. I was lucky enough to win this awesome set at its release, and this is the first time I had a chance to ink it up!!
Thanks for looking!

KKS Challenge 3-Unconventional Colors!

Here's my entry for this Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge! I've been stamping like crazy the last few days to get some cards done for the challenges. Scroll around my blog to see the other cards I entered into their themes :)
This was a fun one to color up, and the first time I colored an entire image in black and white!

I thought it would be pretty unconventional to color the party girl in black and white.
I used my range of Copic C shades. Unfortunately the photo is a little washed out, and this background paper is more of a not-quite navy color in real life; that is not showing up too well.
I originally planned to find some wild, party-type paper for the background, but this piece jumped out instead! Here's the whole card:
This is Sophia and she comes with two sentiments, one of which I used on this card. This set is from KKS.
Thanks for looking!

KKS Challenge 2-Paper Piecing!

Here's my entry for this Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge! I've been stamping like crazy the last few days to get some cards done for the challenges. Scroll around my blog to see the other cards I entered into their themes :)
I paper pieced her flight attendant uniform. Her skirt and jacket are cut out as one solid piece and shaded with markers for dimension. Her bag is colored with Copics and then a, dampened with alcohol, piece of burlap was pressed against it. Here's the whole card:

The Adventure letters and the banner are from My Favorite Things and the photo frame is from Stampin' Up! The stamp is from the set Glamour Girls from KKS.
